Hi,
I am from Bangalore and purchased my car around 2 weeks back...Am a music fanatic who listens to all type of music which depends on my mindset....am yet to get the Car audio done for it as am not able to decide on the HU and the 4 Channel full range Amp...can anyone please suggest a Good Head Unit under Pioneer brand...was check out on the latest 4 series and 5 series...am not able to decide on the same. Also am in need of 4 Channel Amp, I was looking at the JBL GT644 which looks pretty impressive on the specs. The list below are the available with me from my previous car....which was removed at the time of selling.
Pioneer  TS- 6975 - 2Way 300watts 6"X9" Ovals
Pioneer  TS- S20 - 200watts Tweeters - This is a original tweeters compared to fake one available now in the market.
Pioneer TS-W307D4/DVC 12" 1200 Watt Champion Series Subwoofer
Pioneer EQ-6500 9-Band Car Equalizer
JBL GTO3501 Watts RMS, Monoblock Grand Touring Series Amplifier

Am looking for the rest of Package - HU from Pioneer(4 or 5 series), Front component from JBL( Not able to decide on the GT5- S265C and GTO608C), 4 channel full range Amp from JBL(GT5- S644), JBL Wiring Kit...basically I want the products which match with the equipments I have and how much does that costs for what have asked for – Can I get the breakup of the prices for :
Head Unit : 4 series and 5series
Componenets : GT5- S265C and GTO608C
JBL GT5 – S644
JBL Wiring Kit

Also I have query about the RCA of JBL, but in one of the forum it was mentioned that JBL doesnt manufacture RCA, I have two RCA of JBL, which have been using from last 2years where the sound quality was being constant throught. Is it true that its a fake...which RCA can I use instead of this..

Regarding the Damping, can anyone explain how does it work exactly, and how much does it cost of Swift?

PS: I am not restricting to the above requested products, you can suggest me other Brand products as well.

Thanks in advance

Prices for the items requested by you are :
Pioneer 3290UB - Rs. 8990/-
Pioneer 4290SD - Rs. 9990/-
JBL GTO 608C - Rs. 6990/-
JBL GT5 – S644 - Rs. 8990/-
JBL Wiring kit - No idea .. there were hell lot of duplicates/fake wiring kits bearing JBL name out in market. I would personally prefer Scosche / Tsunami / Audison cables for amp wiring.

Note: The prices mentioned are just MRPs; the actual market rates vary Smiley

For RCA, I personally use CoNection Audison or Schosche or Monster cables. I would glab recommend them for quality installation.

Overall I would say all your remaining audio items are just good enough. When you use JBL GTO 608C, you won't require Pioneer  TS- S20. Using the tweeters without the external crossover will not yield good sound; infact the SQ deteriorates, as your tweeters will be fed the frequencies that it can't reproduce.

Better performance of woofer depends on the enclosure. Use sealed enclosure for tight bass or use vented one for deep bass. Remember that, your enclosure needs to be matching the parameters of the sub. You already have a monobloc; nothing like it for sub powering.

Hi Raghu,

Thanks for your Valuable and Quick Suggestions,

With regards to the tweeters, TS20 is equiped with external cross overs. Do you recommend GT5- S265C or GTO608C, as I was thinking of Dummying out the tweeters which along with the Components, I am opting Componenets is only because of the Sound Quality when compared to the Normal speaker in front.Am also not too keen on the tweeters provided in the componenets package as the TS20 is performing better than other tweeters. What do you suggest?  do I really require a 608C or GT5- S265C will do good for my equipments what I have.

With Regards Subwoofer, I do have a Vented enclosure Subwoofer box..... I do have a question on the sub performance, as per your article on the subwoofer enclosure boxes, i have box with the front facing woofer and Vent is pointing upwards(had a Air Hole in between the MDF plank for the air out from the sub in my previous car), and the diamter of the vent within the recomended specs, Do this increase the performance of bass as you recomend the vent in the same direction towards the facing of subwoofer.

Have another question on the Head Unit, since am researching a lot on the Pioneer HU these days, I was comparing 5290 and 4290 HU's. 4290 has a RCA Preouts for Front+Rear/Subwoofer 2 (2V)  and 5290 has Front+Rear+Subwoofer 3 (4V). Can you tell me what is the advantage of having 3 RCA preout compared to 2 RCA? which do you suggest will be the HU i can opt for as i have a 9 Band equilizer to be connected.

Can you please provide the price details of Pioneer 5290 and JBL GT5- S265C as requested in my earlier post. do you also charge for the Installation?

Okay .. If it has an external x'over let's use TS20. Pioneer makes good speakers (high-ends though). In that case we need to find a coaxial speaker with external crossover and un-use the tweeters on that, as TS20 is already doing that stuff.
Look into Blaupunkt velocity Vx 662 co-axial speaker for that or any of Polk/MOMO series 6.5" co-axial speakers. Having two tweeters is not good, as it can render your overall SQ to be chilling.

Regarding the vented box, Port is usually fit near the subwoofer and on the same plane. This is to keep the air moving out from port in phase with subwoofer. It matters a lot.

In case of bandpass it differs a bit.. but bandpass enclosures are tough to make  and tune.

3RCA means more flexibility to hook the amp. especially its helpful when you have subwoofer. with 3 RCA you will find a seperate sub level control from the HU which is usually not available in Rear/Sub switchables (2 RCA)

In your case you are powering both front & rear speakers with amp and have a sub+amp also. So, just go for 3 RCA. Pioneer 5290 MRP = 12990/-

Yes. We do charge for installation. You can contact us @ 96111 28248

Hi Raghu,

I will get my car in a week or 2 as I had to postpone it by 2 months as I had to travel abroad..Recently I came across a person who Works in JBL Car audio showroom...I was having a casual talk on the equipmets i want to get installed in my new car...He suggested me to opt a GTO series rather that GT5 series, though it has a low output compared to GT5, the sound quality is better. He suggested me to go for GTO504 4ch Amp  & GTO 608C instead of GT5-644 and GT5-S265C.Can you please help me out on making me understand on which is better, is it GT0 ot GT5.Also if you could explain on what are the difference GTO series has that make is Higher end version compared to GT5 series. If GTO is really better that GT5 series, i would be happy to get that installad as i am not compromising on the SQ in my car.

I have decided to go for a Components in the front, So if all goes well according to my preferences,I would be installing the following list below in my car.

Pioneer 5290 HU
Pioneer TS-20 Tweeters
Pioneer  TS- 6975 - 2Way 300watts 6"X9" Ovals
Pioneer TS-W307D4/DVC 12" 1200 Watt Champion Series Subwoofer with vented box
Pioneer EQ-6500 9-Band Car Equalizer
JBL GTO-608C front speakers
JBL GTO-504 4ch Amp
JBL GTO-3501 Mono Amp
Scosche Wring kit

Please advise if all the above installation will give me good SQ.

PS:Any suggestions are welcome.

Your question regarding GTO Vs GT5 is answered here: http://acousticsforyou.com/forum/index.php/topic,185.0.html

Regarding the setup, its good and it will really make a SQ setup. As stated earlier in this thread, I am still not convinced with the idea of adding seperate T20's .. It will increase the 'treble' in your overall sound quality. Do you want it this way?

And yes, Pioneer EQ-6500 is a great think to have. Smiley

And wire your subwoofer's voice coils in parallel to get 2 ohms and then power them with jbl gto-3501 - It rocks !

I agree to Raghu point. extra tweeter will make more chilling sound - end result sound quality will not be too good. if you want external tweeter then skip the components and buy coaxial ...........but i feel skipping the tweeter and buying components is best option.

Hi Bassfreak,I would be using the external tweeters alone, However the tweeters along with component will be installed, am planning not connect it for now, or Else at the time of installation, will be checking on the effect and  will be opting for one tweeter only either the one in components or external, it depends on the SQ.

BTW, I will be going for Polk DB6501 Components now instead of JBL 608C as decided earlier.
