hi there pundits..  Smiley
i have a zen 2002 LXi model just the car no car audio within it..
i have power windows in the front..
actually want to install a new audio system...
i'm put up in bangalore

the kind of music i listen to changes a lot depending on mood but mostly rock and little bit of classical in the form of hindi and telugu..

my budget is max 17k...

all i want is a head unit which can play cd's and usb option...
no need of bluetooth..
which one should i take up pioneer or jvc or kenwood??
the dealer near my hose has shown me all the 3 companies and they all cost around 6k only with b&w

now coming to speakers..
i know i want 4 speakers.. 2 in the front and 2 at the rear end..
but should i go for components or just coaxials at the front???
can i get components fitted in the front of my car???

the dealer first suggested me hertz coaxial speakers for the front.. are they good???
i have forgotten the model:( he said 2.5k for them with b&w..
then i asked him for components and he said ill give u the same in hertz for 4k..
can provide model number within 2days don remember them:(

now for the rear speakers first of all should i put them on a plank or speaker box??
even if i put them on a speaker box where to position it??
he has suggested me a MDF plank (rs 800) and on it mount the 6*9 3way speaker system..
the speakers he suggested for the rear were the polk db691 for 3.5k with b&w..
i heard the sound on them they were awesome actually i liked them more than the JBL gto-947.. just that the polk played my kind of music better and also had little more punch(bass) than the JBL's.. no offence everyone has their likings right??

pls guru's of the forum here..
i have these queries..

1. Can i mount component speakers on the car model (zen 2002 Lxi with power windows for the front)Huh
2. Is hertz good?? i actually dint hear the sound on them.. so want to know will let u know about the model in 2 days..
3. Should i use a plank or box for my rear 6*9??? even if i take box since it gives me good punch where and how should i get them placed?? how much would it cost for the box??
4. Any other suggestions for the front speakers??
5. Must i go with components or coaxials??
6. Should i get damping done for my car?? if yes how much would it cost and where all to get the car damped??

waiting for ur take on this gurus  Wink

First of all, installation of components is going to be bit difficult, but possible! You need a good installer for that. In that case you can go for rather 6-6.5" component speakers & tweeters mounted on A-Pillar of simply on the dash corner.

About Hertz, Well, its a good brand .. Speakers are very good & also the amps.

Polk Audio db691 is a good speaker; its a new version with few more goodies of db690, which is a legendary 6"x9". You can still go for db690 and save some cost.

Go with Kenwood HU or Pioneer. Both are really good. Kenwood is not so feature rich but awesome SQ.

Damping is required only when you observe rattling or vibrations of the car body. This usually occurs when you are using your speakers at high volumes. It applies to both components & co-axials. In your setup, I see that you are not having amplifier, so you can't even run your speakers at their max. So, in case of amp., damping sheets are highly recommended.

Apart from that, damping also helps in reducing road noise. If you feel, you get ratting sounds from car doors or any part, damping is highly recommended.

thanks a lot man:)
everyone is telling me to put the speakers on a plank...
by doing so will it decrease my sound in the sense will i not get the bass if the speakers are on a tray??
i want to put them on a box but then problems with the luggage..
so thinking of tray itself..
but when in the tray will i loose the bass effect??

MDF Box will really give better bass or else go for MDF wooden tray.
Actually I didn't get why you are differentiating between plank / tray? Both are same.

good deal while buying the plank make sure it is good quality, prefer MDF. No particle board.
